Diets do not result in lasting weight loss. Why? Because all diets have an end, and when we go back to eating the way we did before starting the diet, we risk retrieve precisely the weight you had before.

Scientific facts support the conclusion that diets can make you gain weight. Our old system and efficient fat storage wonders served our ancestors. When food was scarce, their bodies subsisted fat that had accumulated to stay alive. In times when food was abundant, their bodies still keeping fat because surely another famine was coming.

Currently, most of us are fortunate enough to not have to face famine. But deliberately put our bodies to self-imposed starvation or diets. When we move away from food, the body responds with its natural defense mechanism: feed on stored fat. The problem arises when the diet ends, it is when the body accelerates fat storage system to prepare for the next famine.

There may be emotional factors at play, too. Some diets are so strict that leave those who carry forward always hungry. Therefore, ensuing feelings of deprivation, leading some people to be satisfied or reward with food. This leads to a spiral of overeating, guilt and shame, which generates more and more about food, with dire consequences.

So if you can not trust diets to help you lose weight ... what can you do? Faces a sustainable change in your lifestyle. Eat nutritious foods. Train yourself and move more often. Find ways to relieve stress. Learn to identify those things that are masked by the term "hunger", such as loneliness, boredom or depression. These changes may not make you lose weight fast with a liquid diet, but the weight you lose will stay that way, lost forever.

Remember: "diet" is a four letter word. To reach your health goals, you do not need a certain time. What you need is a permanent change in your lifestyle.
